A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words.  I have found this to be true especially when special moments are captured by a professional photographer.

Victor Monsour of Monsour’s Photography in Lake Charles has been taking professional photos of people and events in Southwest Louisiana for over 30 years. Monsour’s Photography is  a full service photography studio located at 929  Broad St inside an old southern home  in the middle of the beautiful Charpentier District of Lake Charles.

Victor Monsour has an artistic gift.  He is always looking for just the right shot and  knows when to snap his camera capturing his subject in the best light!  Victor Monsour is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of Louisiana. His work has been published in a number of magazines including Southern Living, Better Homes and Gardens, Good Housekeeping, Ladies’ Home Journal, Supermodel, National Enquirer, Sew Beautiful, Vintage Magazine, Workboat Magazine, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Magazine, Orvis, Ducks Unlimited, Louisiana Conservationist, and Louisiana Sportsman.

Over the years I have viewed many Lake Charles  wedding/bridal pictures,   family portraits and professional portraits that  Victor Monsour has taken, not to mention his beautiful wildlife and Louisiana marsh photography.    It’s hard not to see Victor’s Monsour’s work  around town or hear mention of his name because Victor Monsour has had a known presence of photography in Lake Charles since 1981.  So when it was time  to select a  professional photographer for my needs, Victor Monsour was my choice.

My first picture experience with Victor Monsour was in 1990 when he took this photo of my daughter Melinda who was 4 years old at the time.   This photo was taken in the Spring on the lawn  in  front of Monsour’s Photography.  I loved it so much that I ordered a large size which I framed and displayed in my home for years.  It is one of my favorite photos that captures my daughter in a hand smocked dress that I made for her.

Later in 1998 when I needed  a professional headshot for my corporate employer, I returned to Monsour’s Photography and Victor  took this picture of me.

My husband and I relocated to Boca Raton Florida in 2005 and it was there that I began my real estate career.  I needed a  professional headshot to use for my real estate business,  Although South Florida is a beautiful geographic location with photographic options I did not know or trust just any photographer.

First impressions  in any professional career are important.  In real estate pictures really are worth a thousand words.  Agents want to  promote the property in the best way first starting first with a  nice snapshot of the home.  The  “curb appeal” will draw the eye of the buyer.  Beautiful photography speaks for itself.  A REALTOR’S  individual headshot is  just as important. Your picture is how you are first seen and perceived by the public. Realtors have their photos on social media sites, websites, blogs, TV, print advertising.

It may sound crazy but I  flew back to Lake Charles from Boca Raton, FL in just to have Victor Monsour take my real estate headshot!  That is how much I value and trust his work!

Monsour’s Photography was so helpful and  knowing I lived out of town they emailed my proofs for me to view .  Once I made my selection Monsour’s then  mailed a computer disk loaded with my high resolution pictures  to me which I was able to use for all my Florida  real estate marketing.

I moved back to Lake Charles in 2007 and began selling real estate in Lake Charles and affiliated with Century 21 Mike D. Bono & Co.’s. I  have continued to use the same headshot (pictured above) until now!

You know when it is time to have a new headshot taken. When you meet someone for the first time you don’t want them to say “you don’t look anything like your photo”!   You should never have an outdated photo  in your professional career, especially in Lake Charles real estate!   Having a real estate photo or any other picture made can be stressful and it is something we tend to put off.  For women we worry about our hair, makeup and what to wear and most importantly as we age, we worry about wrinkles!  Once I got over my anxiety of  thinking about a new Lake Charles real estate photo,  I picked up the phone and scheduled an appointment with Monsour’s Photography.  Victor worked his magic once again and his photographic skills are phenomenal  as usual and I was not disappointed.  It was hard to narrow my choices from the selection of excellent proofs.

Moving forward in 2011 Lake Charles Real Estate, you will see me using two new real estate photos in my print advertising,  my Lake Charles real estate website and  my  Lake Charles real estate blogs !
