Observe Veteran’s Day Saturday November 5th early before the LSU v. Alabama game!!
Veteran’s Day in Lake Charles will be observed November 5th. Lake Charles Veterans activities will begin with a Veteran’s Day Service at Veteran’s Memorial Park at 10:00 am.
Following the Veteran’s Memorial Service at 10:00 am November 5th, the annual Veteran’s Day Parade will follow at 11:00 am beginning on Pine Street, then South on Ryan Street, West on Broad to Lakeshore Drive.
Lake Charles is fortunate to have a Veteran’s Park which includes a Memorial with a Star pattern of bricks representing each branch of the service.
The walkways are made of bricks which can be donated in honor of a veteran through the Veteran’s Memorial Park Commission.
Most Lake Charles residents recognize the WWII Tank that has been a focal point of the Veteran’s Park for years. However, did you know that Lake Charles also welcomed a new addition to the Veteran’s Memorial Park a year ago? A Vietnam Huey Helicopter has been added to the Veteran’s Park.
The weather has been beautiful in Lake Charles. Get out and enjoy the brisk fall temperatures and bring the kids to visit the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Lake Charles, LA, The park is a walking history lesson and there are benches available and plenty of quiet spots that provide a moment of silence and remembrance.
