Lake Charles is fortunate to have a Veteran’s Memorial Park that has become a focal point along the North end of the Lake Charles Boardwalk.
Veteran’s Park which includes a Memorial with a Star pattern of bricks representing each branch of the service.
The City of Lake Charles Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission will host the City’s annual Veterans Day observance activities beginning with the Veteran’s Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, located at Lakeshore Drive, on Saturday, November 10, at 10 a.m.
This year, the ceremony will pay special recognition to and honor the service and contributions of past and present women in the military.
The public is invited to attend a free Gumbo Cook-off that will take place directly behind the Lake Charles Civic Center, 900 Lakeshore Dr., immediately following the Veterans Day ceremony.
Also behind the Civic Center and near the Gumbo Cook-off, the City of Lake Charles Department of Recreation and Parks will provide a “Kid’s Fun Zone” that will include wholesome family-oriented games, coloring station, face painting, balloons, fun jumps and much more.
Other Veteran’s Day Activities will include:
Complimentary meal at L’Auberge Casino Resort: Monday, Nov. 12 at Le Beaucoup Buffet. Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or Lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Not valid for Early Bird or Dinner Buffet. Complimentary meals are valid for active duty and retired military personnel. Recipients must present a valid ID. Meal valid for veterans only; companion meals are full price.
Veterans Day parade: Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. The Sulphur Armed Forces Committee will be hosting a Veterans Day parade that will travel down Cypress St. in the heart of Sulphur and will end at the S.P.A.R.
