LAKE CHARLES NEIGHBORHOODS AND COMMUNITIES

There are many communities that make up what is known as Southwest Louisiana which includes communities in Allen Parish, Beauregard Parish, Jeff Davis Parish, Cameron Parish and Calcasieu Parish.

SOUTHWEST LAKE CHARLES COMMUNITIES

Southwest Lake Charles is generally considered to be South of I-210 and West of Common Street.   Access to I-210 makes an easy drive to local industries,Lafayette, Beaumont, and Houston. L’Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino is located in this area of Lake Charles

 

Stillwood, Stephens Place, Whispering Woods, University Place,  The Trails, Highland Meadows and the Queen of Heaven area offer homes that typically, have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and are between 15-30  years old and feature 1200 -1800 square feet of living area.

Timberly Terrace, Bayouwood, Chalkley Estates, Weaver Park, Country Club Acres, Cambridge Court, Woodcrest, St.Charles Place, Chateau Circle, Quail Hollow, Morgan Creek, Rosamond Estates, Oxford Court, Kingswood, and  offer older family  homes.  With a diversity of styles, these homes offer buyers a variety of options from patio homes to houses on the water.

Several South Lake Charles Subdivisions offer larger 2400-4000 sq. ft. executive homes that are usually custom built. These communities have a mix of Southern Traditional, Acadian and French Country designs with some homes offering waterfront or golf course views.  Fernwood, Stillforest East and West, Crestview, Westridge, -The Shadows, The Settlement, Barbe Woods Estates, Geddings Estates, St. Francis Forest, Crestview, Jacobs Forest, Cypress Point,  Deepwoods, Oaks of Heyd, Charleston Place, Reserve, Kingspoint, Muirfield, Graywood Plantation, Indian Bay, L’Estate Fracois Windsor Court, La Place Des Chene and

Canal Place are examples of several Lake Charles LA subdivisions  Some of these restricted subdivisions also have vacant lots available to build your dream home.

New  South Lake Charles Communities outside the Lake Charles city limits off Gauthier and Ham Reid Road include Spring Crossing  ,Autumn Run, Bucanneer Acres,

 

 

Chosen Valley and Le Firm.   You can expect to see new construction homes in these neighborhoods which are expanding in South Lake Charles.

LAKE CHARLES COMMUNITIES (Southeast) Areas east of Common and south of I-210.

In the Henry Heights, Sunset Acres, Brentwood, and Greenwich Village subdivisions, you will  find  smaller brick and frame homes on slabs and piers  in affordable price ranges .  Typically, these homes have approximately 1000-1500 square feet and are about 20-30 years in age.

Gulfgate, Cherryhill, and Wilshire Place subdivisions are located near McNeese State University and offer varied types of housing, primarily one-story ranch style homes 25-40 years in age.

LAKE CHARLES  COMMUNITIES (East)

East Lake Charles encompasses that area North of I-210 and East of Ryan Street.  Greenwich Terrace, Broadmoor, and Himont are examples of this area that features cottage style homes between 20-40 years with square footage of 1000-1600.

Older traditional family size homes can be found in Oak Park located in Central Lake Charles.  Alley access, sidewalks and proximity to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital are positive features of this area.

LAKE CHARLES COMMUNITIES  (West)

 

North of I-210 on ,West of Ryan Street, and near St. Patrick Hospital you will find Margaret Place.  Margaret Place is one of two designated historical districts in Lake Charles. Margaret Place homes usually offer alot of character from an era gone by.

The neighborhoods of  Lafitte Landing, Rio Hondo,

Barbe Court are located off of  Lake Street and Sallier. You will find new residential and townhome construction sprinkled in these neighborhoods

DOWNTOWN LAKE CHARLES NEIGHBORHOODS


In the heart of Downtown Lake Charles  you will find the Charpentier Historical District which offers unique Victorian style  homes  some of which are in the Lake Charles historical registry.  Along the lakefront on  Shell Beach Drive you will find older estates with a flair of new grandeur and Acadian style construction mixed in.  Many of these antebellum homes such as the Sallier-Barbe home are full of colorful history.


LAKE CHARLES PLANNED COMMUNITIES

Graywood, located in South Lake Charles, is the first planned community in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  It consists of five  neighborhoods, with views of the Graywood 18-hole, award winning golf course.  Vacant lots, homes of various sizes and townhomes are available in this exclusive community. There is a Sports Club Facility, Club House and Golf membership available to residents.

Graywood also includes a new retirement community which is  currently under construction Christus Village   is a retirement community offering apartment and chateau independent living.

Providence is a another new planned community currently in the development stage with  lots available.of
