Lake Charles features many opportunities to enjoy activities throughout the year in local parks, festivals and the arts around town!

Nature trails and views of many species of birds, spoonbills, pelicans and alligators are also just a short drive away. Get an up close and personal view of one of the resident Gators located in the Gator Pond adjacent to The Lake Charles Visitors Center.

The downtown Lakefront, known locally as the Central Park of Lake Charles, Bord Du Lac Park borders the lake’s shoreline. The pathway through the park and Boardwalk area accommodates walkers, runners and rollerbladers and features numerous decks extending over the water with shaded pavilions for fishing or sightseeing. With a boat marina and large open space, this area hosts many of the city’s popular outdoor events and festivals.

DREW PARK
Drew Park is located on S. Ryan Street just across the Street from Christus St. Patrick Hospital. You will find playground equipment, swings and a walking/jogging path amidst shady oak trees in Drew Park.
TUTEN PARK
Tuten Park, a 24 acre Woodland Park located at 3715 Nelson Road in Lake Charles. The Park is a sanctuary for birds and host to native flowers and trees. The Master Plan includes nature trails, picnic areas, exhibits, wetland ponds, preserved forest, children’s playground, lookout tower, and other unique urban features.
PRIEN LAKE PARK
Prien Lake Park offers recreation and relaxation for all ages. This jewel of a park is managed and maintained by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. The park overlooks Indian Bay on the Eastern shore of Prien Lake.

SAM HOUSTON JONES STATE PARK
Sam Houston Jones State Park is located in Moss Bluff and the backdrop of the park is the waterway of the Calcasieu River, typical Louisiana wetlands consisting of cypress trees, water and moss. Boating, camping, nature trails and cabins are available.
