Mardi Gras in Lake Charles

The Mardi Gras season begins with Twelfh Night (12 days after Christmas) and lasts through Fat Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent).
Lake Charles is fortunate to have a wonderful Mardi Gras located inside the Central School Arts & Humanities Center When you visit the Mardi Gras Museum of Imperial Calcasieu you can view some of the most extravagant costumes ever and be entertained by animated mannequins that share the story of Mardi Gras chicken runs.
Lake Charles has over 50 Krewes. Each weekend during Mardi Gras the various Krewes hold their Formal and Costume Balls. If you are lucky to be a krewe member or invited guest you are sure to experience fun and merriment!

Lake Charles celebrates Mardi Gras with many activities varying from the Royal Gala, Krewe of Barkus Parade, Boat Parade, Merchants Parade, Children’s Parade and the Krewe of Krewes Parade. Many of these events are family friendly with “alcohol free zones located.
